Arm lift: the procedure – removal of excess skin from the upper arms
After a pregnancy, significant weight loss or aging, there is often a surplus of skin on the underside of the upper arms and the inner side of the upper legs. An arm lift can be the solution for lost skin elasticity and excess.

The arm lift is a common surgical procedure that is mainly performed for aesthetic reasons. This two-hour operation takes place under general anesthesia. With an arm lift, the excess skin is removed, usually on the inside of the upper arm. This tightens the skin again. An arm lift is often combined with an arm lift liposculpture. The subcutaneous fatty tissue is removed.
Arm lift: postoperative concerns
After the procedure, the plastic surgeon will apply a pressure bandage that you will have to wear for two weeks. Two weeks after the arm lift, the bandage and stitches are removed. Strenuous efforts are not recommended until six weeks after the arm lift. You may resume light activities after about 7 days.

The excess skin is removed from the inside of the upper arm, as the scar is least noticeable there. The scar usually runs from the armpit to the elbow. The first few months the scar may be red and lumpy. A year after the arm lift, the scars will fade and flatten. Until then, it is recommended to protect the scar from the sun.
