The growth is removed with a small incision made from the end region of the breast.

Types of tissues for male breasts

Male breasts consist of two types of tissue. One of these, fatty tissue forms, makes up almost the entire breast in men. There is also a tissue that we call the glandular tissue, or mammary gland tissue. This tissue is rare in men. In women, especially young girls, breast tissue consists of almost the entire breast. This tissue grows and develops during pregnancy, with hormonal effects. However, since these features are not present in males, glandular tissue is very rare under normal circumstances.

If the cause of gynecomastia is overweight, there is an increase in adipose tissue. This increased fat tissue is surgically removed or the liposuction method is removed from the fats. If excess skin occurs in the area during the procedure, it will be removed with a certain amount of fat in the skin.

After gynecomastia surgery

After the gynecomastia surgery, the chest drops completely down. There is no need to shrink again for breasts that grow for many reasons. However, if one of the causes of gynecomastia is exposure to rapid weight gain, breast growth may reappear.

A corset is used for about 1 month to prevent blood and other fluids from accumulating and to help the skin adhere to the tissue more quickly because the tissue will be removed from this area.

If the operation is performed under general anesthesia, there is a 1-day hospital stay. Patients undergoing local anesthesia can be discharged the same day. Postoperative pain can be easily relieved by your doctor with pain medication.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a man, can I have breast surgery to make my breasts look more muscular? If so, which one would you recommend?

Aesthetic surgeries do not strengthen or build muscle. For some reason, however, in some men, excess fat in the chest area is not burned during exercise and a muscular appearance does not occur. Gynecomastia surgery removes excess fatty tissue in the breasts, allowing for a more muscular appearance.

What is called gynecomastia?

Despite the general thought, the concept of aesthetics has a great share of both men and women. Especially recently, men are much more interested in cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery.

A stun body for both men and women is considered to be a proportional body, including the size of the chest, waist and hip. The proportion and size of the body depend on age, genetic features, specific time periods, weight in both males and females.

As for a proportional body type for men, one of the main problems is breast enlargement as known in medical terms as GYNECOMASTIA.

Why does gynecomastia happen?

There are mammary glands in the body of both men and women, but men's breasts are normally small and undeveloped. During puberty, breast growth begins in boys just like in girls, and this is normal.

However, in some boys, this growth may be more than expected. This is the most common cause of gynecomastia.

The second most common cause is the increase in adipose tissue in the breast area due to weight gain. Weight gain makes the breasts appear larger.

The third most common cause is drug use. Drugs for hormone therapy or used unknowingly for bodybuilding can cause breast enlargement.

Furthermore, some medicines, obesity and alcohol consumption can cause gynecomastia.

How is gynecomastia treated?

There are different techniques to treat gynecomastia depending on the reason.

If the person needs gynecomastia surgery, due to enlargement of the mammary gland during puberty, growth tissue is removed from the breasts through a small incision made on the areola of the breasts.

If the person needs gynecomastia surgery, because of weight gain, it means that there is excess fat on the breasts. The treatment technique is either the excess fat is removed by incision or by liposuction method without any incision.

If the person needs gynecomastia surgery because they have excess breast tissue as well as excess fat tissue, both surgical incision and liposuction method should be used to treat.

However, due to the recent development of technology and new devices, gynecomastia operations can only be performed with the liposuction method without any incision. For the best treatment and recovery process, the patient should consult their surgeon.

How much does gynecomastia surgery cost?

There are some conditions that detect the price, such as the size of the breasts, the technique being performed, or the type of anesthesia that will be applied.

For exact answers, it is extremely important to consult a surgeon experienced in the field.

How many days does the patient have to stay in hospital?

The patient who has undergone GYNECOMASTY surgery under general anesthesia must stay in the hospital for one night. General anesthesia and an overnight hospital stay are considered good for patient comfort.

What should the patient do after surgery

After the operation, the patient should drink plenty of water and keep active to get rid of the edema easily. The patient should wear a piece of clothing that supports his body. The garment is important during the recovery process, since there is a gap under the skin, where there used to be breast tissue or excess fat tissue, the gap will adapt to the new situation of the body.

The garment must be used for at least 3 weeks. The patient should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous sports for 3 weeks during the recovery process.
